Key Activites

STEM Lending Libraries
STEM equipment collections are being placed in community locations such as public libraries and out-of-school time programs. These lending libraries allow educators, OST providers, and youth organizations to check out robotics kits, engineering tools, coding resources, drones, and other STEM learning materials for use in classrooms and programming.

Community STEM Programming
Community partners are hosting hands-on STEM learning opportunities for youth through libraries, youth organizations, and community centers. Activities include robotics, coding, engineering design challenges, and maker-based learning experiences.

Professional Development
The region is supporting professional development opportunities for teachers, librarians, and out-of-school time providers focused on hands-on STEM instruction, engineering design, and applied mathematics strategies. Trainings are designed to increase educator confidence in facilitating inquiry-based STEM activities.

Regional Partnerships
Collaboration is ongoing with schools, higher education institutions, industry partners, and community organizations to strengthen regional STEM capacity and support pathways from STEM learning to workforce opportunities. These efforts are intended to increase regional access to STEM learning tools, strengthen educator capacity, and expand opportunities for youth to participate in hands-on STEM experiences throughout Southeastern New Mexico.
